Workshop on Psychological First Aid for COVID-19 outbreak by the Psychosocial Support Centre of Red Cross.

Event Description

As a group of people with the ambition to create sustainable development in our communities, we decided to take the initiative and organize a workshop on increasing awareness of mental support during a crisis such as the COVID-19.

JCICI has invited the Psychosocial Support Centre of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (https://pscentre.org/) and Ea Suzanne Akasha, Technical Advisor at IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support to introduce us the "Psychological First Aid".

The Psychosocial Support Centre has developed a supportive training on “Psychological First Aid” for COVID-19 outbreak response. It is a package of tools and methods to help people respond with resilience during and after situations of extreme stress. You will learn how to help yourself or others who suffer during or after crises, like the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Our trainer Ea Suzanne Akasha has prepared a very interested and interactive training for you and JCI Copenhagen International for tomorrow. Due to the fact that we had to do the workshop online, we kindly ask you to get prepared before the workshop.

Firstly, we would like to inform you that your camera has to be open as it is mandatory for your active participation during the workshop. Moreover, it would be highly appreciated if you be prepared and have a pen, a marker and white papers by you, as you will be asked to draw and write during the activities.

The workshop will take place in different phases.

DISCUSSION: At the beginning, it will be an introduction of yourself and then a discussion on motivation to participate, your feelings, etc.

ROLE-PLAYING: Then you will be divided into a group of 3 people, at the breakout room, for a role-playing game.

Here, we would like to kindly ask, if someone doesn't want to be part of the role game, there is an option of a casework activity. Please, send us an email today or tomorrow asking to be placed at the casework breakout rooms at the ZOOM, in order to make a list and save time during the workshop. However, you will be asked again tomorrow before the activity.

During the game, we will ask you to add your role next to your name in Zoom, e.g. Vasiliki- Consultant.

To change your name after entering a Zoom meeting, click on the “Participants” button at the top of the Zoom window. Next, hover your mouse over your name in the “Participants” list on the right side of the Zoom window. Click on “Rename”. Enter the name you'd like to appear in the Zoom meeting and click on “OK”

DISCUSSION: After the role-playing game or casework activity, you will be asked to present your work.

Q&A: In this session, you will have the chance to ask questions to the Ea.

Secondly, prepare a cup of tea or coffee and wear your best smile and get ready for a resourceful workshop!

If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us here.
